The European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), also known as the western roe deer, chevreuil, or simply roe deer or roe, is a species of deer. The male of the species is sometimes referred to as a roebuck. The roe deer is relatively small, reddish and grey-brown, and well-adapted to cold environments. The species is widespread in Europe, from the Mediterranean to Scandinavia, from Ireland to the Caucasus, and east to northern Iran and Iraq. It is distinct from the somewhat larger Siberian roe deer.

We found this poor beast (I don't know the English name) near the road, where she probably had an accident with a car. it was a pregnant female, and her leg was competely broken. It was on a saturday evening, all the veterinarians had closed and we didin't know what to do to save her. She died during the night. She was so sweet, and calm, and not at all afraid of human beings. |
