Colorado River Toad. Toxic (extremely) to dogs and a source of a
hallucinogen for humans. The toxins are produced in the little white sacs
to the side of the critter's mouth. These specimens were quite large -
maybe 6 to 8 inches - and totally devoid of humor. :-)

The Colorado River Toad or Bufo alvarius, also known as the Sonoran Desert Toad, is a psychoactive toad found in the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico. The skin and venom of Bufo alvarius contain 5-MeO-DMT and bufotenin. |
