More of the "meanest light ever" section - Hagenbeck Zoo Kodiak bear, 1024x768
Hi again,
if you go to Hagenbeck in order to take Kodiak bear pictures, you'd
better pick a cloudy day. The bear enclosure is one of a few that has
the visitor's path on the north side. If you go there on a sunny day,
you get pictures the way you see here. No paper print ever could display
a contrast range like this - the film scanner, however, turned the whole
thing into something acceptable.
Greetings from Germany -
Ralf

The Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi) is a subspecies of the brown bear. Kodiak bears live exclusively on the islands in the Kodiak Archipelago and have been isolated from other bears for about 12,000 years. |
