Honey badger (Mellivora capensis)
The honey badger is a powerful animal that hunts for food - berries, fruit, rodents or snakes - mainly at night. It is often associated with the greater honeyguide, a bird whose aerial and vocal displays entice the honey badger towards bees' nests. The honey badger then breaks the nests open, claiming the honey for itself, and leaving the wax for the bird, which hovers nearby. |
