Puff adder, widely distributed African viper. Its skin pattern varies, but it usually has yellow, crescentic markings on brown. It hunts large rodents and its poisonous bite can be fatal to humans. Up to 80 young are born at one time. Length: to 1.2m. Family Viperidae; species Bitis arietans. |
