Cecropis daurica - red-rumped swallow

The red-rumped swallow (Cecropis daurica) is a small bird that belongs to the swallow family, Hirundinidae. It has a blue back, a reddish rump, and a pale face and neck. It lives in open hilly areas of southern Europe, Asia, and Africa. Some populations are resident, while others migrate to warmer regions in winter. It feeds on flying insects that it catches in the air. It builds a dome-shaped nest with a tunnel entrance, usually under a cliff or a building. It lays 3 to 6 eggs per clutch.
