Paul Jeanson was appointed National Director of A Rocha France in January. Paul, a former Paris-Dakar rally driver, has been involved in international conservation for many years, but says, "It's going to be a wild ride, working with A Rocha!"

Marcial Felgueiras, Director of A Rocha Portugal, reports that several species are wintering for the first time in their study area. It is suspected that major fires inland during the last two summers (resulting in the loss of 80% of the native woodland and scrub on the Serra de Monchique) have forced some birds nearer to the coast.
