Here is the story about little Gremlin.

Little Gremlin:

I just want to be able to drive somewhere without finding an animal
in need. Yesterday it was not to be. It all started when I saw a
man trying to catch a kitten along a busy road and I decided to
lend a hand. Well, two hours later I had him! After having trampled
through poison ivy for an hour, I decided to go home and shower and
then go to Kmart to see if they had any fishing nets (the kind with a
handle). If no, then I would just go to work. If yes, then it would be
off to get the kitty. Of course they had 2 nets! It still took a while
to catch him, and when he ran "into" the net, I was as startled as he
was. So I grabbed the little guy and dropped him off at my vet and
went home and showered again, and then went to work. While at
work, I arranged to hand him over to one of the foster moms at the
shelter that night. So I picked him up at 7pm and drove him on over,
and that is when one of the girls at the shelter made the awful discovery.
The poor little guy's skin on his lower jaw had been ripped down to
below his chin. I guess that it went unnoticed till then because the
skin was kind of staying in place. As luck would have it, this was
"Vet-Check" night, and the vet was there. When she got around to
treating little Gremlin, we all became quite queasy. Not only had the
skin been ripped off his chin, but it was all infected. The shelter
decided to arrange for surgery this morning.

Gremlin is so lucky. The reason I pursued him is because of his
little pathetic crying sounds he kept making. That cry just really
got to me and there was no way I could just leave him there.
So that little, 6 week, black-and-white male with a Siamese face
now known as Gremlin has a chance. You can't help but smile
when you see that little face.

Update:

Gremlin had his surgery today at noon and things went very well.
He has a bunch of stitches and plastic holding his skin to his chin.
The vet said that he is missing some bone, possibly from having
been thrown out of a car. The vet also said that he was more likely
13 weeks old rather than 6 weeks as his size would indicate. The
foster mom says that Gremlin won't let her out of his sight and infact
slept under her chin last night. She also says that Gremlin appears to
feel better since having the surgery.
