| Observing the shorter neck and muzzle, the short pointy ears, and the fiber type of the animal in this photo, this is an alpaca rather than a llama.  Both are in the camelid family but are entirely different species.  The camelid family has four different species: llama, alpaca, vicunia, and guanaco.  This family is also referred to as "lama" with only one "L". |
