Waterbuck, or waterbok, large, coarse-haired antelope, native to Africa S of the Sahara, and the Nile Valley. There are 37 subspecies. Long, ringed horns on males slope backwards, then curve forwards at the tips. Length: 1.5-2m; height: 1-1.5m at the shoulder. Family Bovidae; species Kobus ellipsiprymnus. |
