 Eastern Marsh-Harrier

 The
 Circus spilonotus
is an uncommon migrant to our islands, and it is found primarily in wetlands and grasslands, where it is normally seen flying low over the ground.
I regularly see this bird in a couple of wetlands I've visited, but it's not easy to capture well because it's always looking at the ground as it flies past, searching for prey. This New Year, the gods smiled at me and allowed me to get this handsome raptor (a sub-adult male) as it banked in mid-air over my favorite wetlands, showing lots of detail in the underwing, and with a pose that I like very much.
