This is a fox squirrel (Sciurus niger), as are many other of the
photos listed under "American red squirrel," not a red squirrel
(Tamaisciurus hudsonicus).
The red squirrel is only half the size of a fox squirrel,
has a vibrant red tail, white that extends from the upper lip
to the cheeks, neck, and all the way down the undersides; very
different from the fox squirrel, as seen in this picture.
