The Komodo dragon is a fearsome inhabitant of a small group of islands in Indonesia. Up to three metres long, it prowls the land for carrion and lies in wait in its burrow or in tall grass to ambush prey. Starting with the insides, and then eating the flesh and the bones, the Komodo dragon can devour an entire pig in 15 minutes. Afterwards, its swollen stomach may drag on the ground as it digests its meal. |
