Canis lupus lupus (nominate subspecies of grey wolf)
Generally a large subspecies with rusty ocherous or light grey fur.
Has the largest range among wolf subspecies and is the most common in Europe and Asia, ranging through Western Europe, Scandinavia, Caucasus, Russia, China, Mongolia, and the Himalayan Mountains. Habitat overlaps with Indian wolf in some regions of Turkey. |
