The long-finned pilot whale (Globicephala melas) is a large species of oceanic dolphin. Long-finned pilot whales are known as such because of their unusually long pectoral fins. Long-finned pilot whales are found in the North Atlantic (subspecies Globicephala melas melas), as well as the Southern Hemisphere (subspecies Globicephala melas edwardii). |
