Subject: New/Snowy_Owl001-by_Ralf_Schmode.jpg
This (and the other photo taken by the same photographer) is
a female snowy owl. Females are more heavily barred than males.
The males appear almost totally white. This coloration is excellent
camouflage for the female while nesting on the rocky tundra surface.
