Snowy owl, any of several species of white and grey owls, camouflaged to blend with the snowy barren Arctic tundra where they live; especially Nyctea scandiaca. It feeds mainly on lemmings and hares, hunting in daylight during the summer. Length: to 60cm. Family Strigidae. |
