The Yellow-banded Poison Dart (or Yellow-banded Poison Frog), Dendrobates leucomelas, is a type of poison dart frog found in nature in the northern part of South America. This amphibian is normally found in very humid conditions on trees or rocks. It can also be found in the seasonally Drier forest Islands in its range. It is commonly seen in leaf litter thought too dry for other Dendrobatids to survive. This species can handle lower humidity levels much better than other species.

This is one of the more commonly-available and popular dart frog pet species, and specimens are available for breeding by hobbyists. They are readily available and easy to keep because of their forgiving care (comparatively) and ease of keeping in a group setting.
