The Japanese anchovy (Engraulis japonicus) is a schooling fish in the anchovy family. They are abundant in the Pacific Ocean south of the Sea of Okhotsk, and are also distributed in the Sea of Japan, the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the coast of Japan. Like the European anchovy, it has a lifespan of 2-3 years. It spawns from Taiwan to southern Sakhalin. |
