The mahi-mahi or common dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus) is a surface-dwelling ray-finned fish found in off-shore temperate, tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. Also widely called dorado and dolphin, it is a member of the Coryphaenidae family. Mahi means very strong in Hawaiian. The name mahimahi means very strong in Hawaiian.
The Japanese whiting, Sillago japonica, (also known as the Japanese sillago or Shiro-gisu) is a common species of coastal marine fish belonging to the smelt-whiting family, Sillaginidae. As suggested by its name, the Japanese whiting was first recorded from Japan in 1843, but has subsequently been found to extend to Korea, China and Taiwan.
The spiny red gurnard (Chelidonichthys spinosus) is a species of searobin native to the northwestern Pacific Ocean where they occur at depths of from 25 to 615 metres. This species grows to a length of 40 centimetres TL. This species is of commercial importance as a food fish.
The red barracuda or brown barracuda (Sphyraena pinguis) is a ray-finned fish species from the family of the Barracudas (sphyraenidae). The scientific name of the species was first published in 1874 by Günther.
The banded grouper or yellow grouper (Epinephelus awoara) is a species of fish in the family Serranidae. It is found in China, Disputed Territory, Hong Kong, North Korea, South Korea, Macau, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
The chub mackerel, Pacific mackerel, or Pacific chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) is a mackerel which closely resembles the Atlantic chub mackerel. |
