Giant otter (Pteronura brasiliensis)
The giant otter of Brazil is the largest of the world's otters, reaching almost two metres long and weighing up to 24kg. Unlike other otters, it has fully webbed forefeet that enable it to swim rapidly underwater in pursuit of fishes. The last two-thirds of its tail are almost flat, giving the otter extra manoeuvrability. |
