Origin:
India & Himalayas.
Habitat:
Woodland.

Nesting: A hole in a cavity or a tree.

Facts: The Otus genus is the largest genus in the Strigidae Family. This genus consists of Scops owls and Screech Owls. The word Scops comes from the Ancient Greek word for Owls generally. The Scops Owl is very similar in shape and colour to the Screech Owl, differing mainly in their call; the Scops Owl call consists of short monotonous notes, rather than the Screech Owl's longer trills.

This Owl, along with most of the Otus Genus, occurs in two distinct colour phases: Grey Birds and Rufous Brown Birds. The birds are very good at blending in with the scenery due to their colours. If alarmed the bird will stand motionless, erecting it's ear tufts
