Description
Abstract: FWS STURGEON RESEARCH. Fisheries biologists at Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery in South Carolina inspect a captive sturgeon. Sturgeons, perhaps best known for producing caviar, are an ancient species and individual fish can live for many decades. Many species of sturgeon are threatened by habitat alteration, and the Service is engaged in sturgeon restoration activities in several regions of the country.
