[Animal Art] Leatherback Sea Turtle (Dermochelys coriacea)

Captured from a WONDERFUL MULTIMEDIA CD-ROM title,
"Eyewitness Encyclopedia of Nature",
Dorling Kindersley Multimedia, 1995

Leatherback Turtle
Long front flippers & Parallel ribs on back
UNLIKE MOST other turtles, an adult leatherback has no scales on its shell. Instead, the shell is hidden under a layer of rubbery skin. The biggest turtles in the world, leatherbacks have large flippers and are powerful swimmers. They have weak, scissorlike jaws and no claws on their flippers.
