늑대 Canis lupus chanco
개과에 딸린 산짐승. 몸길이 1.3m로 개와 모습이 비슷하나 꼬리를 항상 늘어뜨리고 있는 점이 다르다. 습성으로 볼 때 여우류와 비슷한 점이 많다. 산속에 살며 성질이 매우 사납고 토끼, 노루, 꿩 따위를 잡아먹으며, 때로는 마을로 내려와 사람이나 가축을 해치기도 한다.
