Making a splash - inspired by our ignorance about less well-known dolphins and whales, marine biologist Todd Pusser has dedicated 10 years to recording species that are rarely photographed.

Cuvier's beaked whale
Ziphius cavirostris
Beaked whales are masters of deep diving, little seen at the surface, and as a consequence, they remain the least-known family of all whales. Cuvier's is probably the most common of all the 20 or so species. Though population numbers are unknown, it does not seem to be abundant in any ocean basin.
