The North American moose (known in Eurasia as the elk) is a year-round forest inhabitant, usually solitary in its behaviour. In summer, the moose prefers recently cleared areas where it can feed on grass and young shoots; it is also often found wading in open water and feeding on submerged aquatic plants. |
