The sambar (Rusa unicolor) is a large deer native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. The Sri Lankan sambar or Indian sambar (Rusa unicolor unicolor) is a subspecies of the sambar deer that lives in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
