Must be a fly, but it was the biggest, brownest, fluffiest fly I have ever seen.

Lovely picture, flies don't come much cuddlier!
Yup, two wings and those little bristle antennae. It looks like the
hoverfly family (syrphidae) - which doesn't narrow it down much. |
