1508 is a thompson's gazelle.
1517 - Mom and baby
1526 - Those darned starlings again.
1528 - Synchronized scratching.
(I actually saw this coming and was ready for it. ;-)
1560 - More babons
1563 - "What kind of eagle is that, James?"
"A flying eagle." "Thanks, James!"
1564 - "Look, a leopard!" "That's not a leopard."
"It has spots. maybe it's a very tall leopard."
1567 - A silver-cheeked hornbill.
1568 et al - Very well-fed tree-climbing lions.
Kenya and Tanzania, Summer 2000.
Stills from digital video camera.
640x480 JPEG, mostly unretouched.
Missing numbers are due to chopping
out non-animal pictures (such as
scenery, plant life, etc.)
Released to the Public Domain,
but I would appriciate hearing about
commercial use of the photos.

The plains zebra (Equus quagga, formerly Equus burchellii), also known as the common zebra or Burchell's zebra, or locally as the "quagga", is the most common and geographically widespread species of zebra. It ranges from the south of Ethiopia through East Africa to as far south as Botswana and eastern South Africa. |
