Northern barracuda (Sphyraena borealis)
The northern barracuda (Sphyraena borealis), or northern sennet, is a slender, silvery fish with a long head, pointed snout and a large mouth with sharp teeth, characterized by two separate dorsal fins and a forked tail, usually growing to about 50 cm (20 inches). Adults are silvery with darker blotches or bars, while young have distinct dark spots, and they inhabit coastal waters from Canada to Argentina, known for their speed and predatory nature. |
