The Norfolk parakeet is bright green with a red forehead and forecrown, a red stripe across each eye, a dark blue region on the leading edge of each wing and a small patch of red on either side of the rump. The sexes are similar in appearance, but the female can be distinguished by her smaller size, smaller red forehead and forecrown patches, and a smaller, narrower bill. Juveniles are similar to the adults, but green colouring is duller and red colouring is less extensive. |
