The helmeted guineafowl (Numida meleagris) is the best known of the guineafowl bird family, Numididae. It is native to Africa, mainly south of the Sahara.

The wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is an upland ground bird native to North America and is the heaviest member of the diverse Galliformes.
