Myospalax myospalax, also known as the Siberian or Altai zokor, is a subterranean rodent with a cylindrical body, thick fur and adaptations for digging like short, strong limbs and powerful claws. These zokors have a head-body length of about 203–266 mm, a short tail (around 48 mm), and a weight range of 200–720 g, with males being larger than females. Their fur colour varies from grey-straw-rust to ochre-rust-grey, with a denser winter coat. |
