Aardwolf, rare nocturnal mammal found in S and E Africa. It has soft, black-striped yellow grey underfur, with coarse outer fur forming a crest along its back. It eats mainly termites and insect larvae. Overall length: to 1m. Family Hyaenidae; species Proteles cristata. |
