Gold's tree cobra (Pseudohaje goldii)
The slender Gold’s tree cobra is generally glossy black with a yellow underside and lips. It is noted for its short head and very large eyes. The tail ends in a sharp spine that may be a climbing aid. This rarely seen rainforest snake is naturally agile and arboreal but it can also move rapidly over land. Its prey includes tree-dwelling mammals, such as squirrels and terrestrial amphibians. |
