The 'fishing hawk' ... the consummate fisherman ... hovers
30-100' in the air, wings beating, then dives for his fish, which
he usually gets and may weigh as much as 4 lbs. or more ... he
carries the fish parallel to his body, with the head of the fish
pointing forward and takes it to a perch in a dead tree to dissect
and eat.
They have a distinctive call which always alerts me to their
flying overhead.
