The straw-coloured fruit bat, a single species, is the most widely distributed species in Africa. It migrates over distances of hundreds of kilometres. It is also well known for its meat and can be found in most local markets. This bat forms large colonies such as the colony in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan, which numbers over a million individuals. |
