Based on foot structure, tooth structure, and genetics, Rock hyraxes are the closet living relatives of the elephant. Because they have very little ability to control their body temperature, hyraxes spend a lot of time either huddling together for warmth or sunbathing. Typically, hyraxes have to spend a few hours warming up each day before becoming fully active. |
