Little egret (Egretta garzetta)
The little egret inhabits swamps, marshes and lagoons, and feeds on fishes and aquatic invertebrates. In some parts of its range it is only a summer visitor, migrating long distances to its wintering grounds at the end of the breeding season. It was once persecuted for the beautiful long white plumes of its breeding plumage. |
