Desert locusts are usually confined to the vegetation around waterholes and oases. But every so often, when their normal home becomes too crowned, swarms of the locusts set out on mass migrations. As the clouds of insects sweep downwind, they bring terror to farmers on the desert fringes because of the harm they can do to their crops. |
