The kakapo (Strigops habroptilus), also called owl parrot and kākāpō or night parrot in Māori, is a species of large, flightless, nocturnal, ground-dwelling parrot of the family Strigopidae endemic to New Zealand. It is the world's only flightless parrot and the heaviest parrot.
