Nacunda nighthawks are one of the largest nighthawk species in the world. The pattern on their brown feathers helps them blend into trees and leaf litter, even in broad daylight. They’re so well-camouflaged that they sometimes build nests on the ground. They hunt at dawn and dusk by scooping up insects while in mid-air.
