Thanks for the kind words! The common english name is "Gharial" sometimes it's misspelled as "Gavial". The scientific name is: Gavialis gangeticus All crocodilians are in the family "Crocodylidae" Within the family Crocodylidae, there are 3 sub-families: Alligatorinae, Crocodylinae and Gavialinae. The sub-family Alligatorinae consists of alligators and caimans. The sub-family Crocodylinae consists of all crocodiles The sub-family Gavialinae consists of only one species the Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) For more information on crocodilians that a look at Dr. Adam Britton's site at: http://www.crocodilian.com Thanks, John Trudie wrote: > Hi John, > What is the usually name?
