The blackfin of the western Atlantic is one of the smaller tuna, averaging less than 4.54 kg (10 lb) with a maximum of about 19 kg (42 lb). It is renowned more for its delicious flesh than for its sporting qualities, and large numbers are taken by blue marlin as well as by commercial fishermen. |
