D:\Microcosmos\Honeybee] [08/10] - 160.jpg (1/1) (Video Capture)
Many species of insects carry pollen from a flower to another, but
none does it better than the bee. These working bees must diligently
gather nectar and pollen before noon comes. They suck nectar with
their straw-shaped mouths and store it in the honey sack in their
stomachs. The lumps of pollen are stored in the pollen basket in the
bee's hind legs. Worker bees are extremely adept in food gathering.
They pay special care to each of the flower petals as to not damage
them. One worker bee has to gather nectar from about one thousand
flowers to fill up tis honey sac. But sadly, these diligent bees
live only about a few weeks and die from overworking. |
