Korean Bird: Saunder's Gull J01-starts flight
Common name : Saunder's Gull
Korean name : geom-eun-meo-ri-gal-mae-gi (검은머리갈매기)
Latin name : Larus saundersi
Saunder's gull is rare in Korea, while the similar specis,
black-headed gull is common. Interestingly, Korean named
Saunder's gull as "black-headed gull", and black-headed gull
as "red-billed gull". The difference between the two species
is the color of the bills. Saunder's gull's bill is black,
while black-headed gull is red.

부리가 검은색이며, 등, 어깨, 허리가 엷고 푸른 잿빛이고
그 외에는 흰색이다. 우리나라에서 드물게 관찰되는데, 흔한
붉은머리갈매기와 부리 색깔로 구분된다. |
