The tiger snake of Australia is one of the most venomous of all snakes, and takes its name from its body pattern — broad, dark bands on a light background. When angered, the tiger snake spreads its neck into a hood, similar to that of the cobra, and strikes with great speed. The tiger snake is a common species in much of southern Australia and Tasmania, and even occurs in the suburbs of Sydney. |
