Gypsy moth, small tussock moth with black zigzag markings; the female is larger and lighter in colour. The caterpillar of this species feeds on forest and fruit trees and can be a serious pest; it is pale brown and covered with tufts of stiff hairs. Length: 5cm. Family Lepidoptera; species Lymantria dispar. |
