Arctic fritillary (Boloria chariclea)
The Arctic fritillary lives in tundra from the U.S.A., across northern Europe to Asia, and has been found farther north than any other species of fritillary. It is one of only about six species of butterfly to survive in Greenland, where it lives on strips of greenery that skirt a thick layer of ice. |
